Co. Meath is known as the Royal County and is steeped in history, from the passage tombs at Newgrange, Dowth and Knowth to the royal site at Tara. The county boasts the heritage town of Kells - famous for its association with the Book of Kells, and Trim, a town dominated by the remains of King John's Castle - the largest Norman castle in Ireland.
