Tipperary North - An area rich in heritage
Holy Cross Abbey, one of Europe's most significant early monastic sites, lies near Thurles on the banks of the River Suir. The Silvermines Mountains and Devil's Bit Mountain form majestic backdrops to this rich countryside. Redwood Castle, built by the Normans in 1210 is well worth a visit. To the north are the heritage centres of Nenagh and Roscrea, with its Castle and Damer House. Lough Derg - Ireland's pleasure lake is surrounded by delightful villages.
